Example 1: the lower team wins
A holds 7 and 11 pips: eighteen total. B holds 13 and 8: twenty-one. With both ends blocked, A wins and scores 21. The award is neither 3, the difference, nor 39, the total across all hands.
Example 2: equal team totals
A holds 4 and 16; B holds 9 and 11. Both teams total 20. Neither receives points. Even if the player holding four pips led the hand, that does not change this Casa blocked-hand result.
Example 3: the smallest hand is not enough
A holds 2 and 25; B holds 10 and 12. A has the smallest individual hand, but its team totals 27 against 22. B wins and receives 27. Other tables may compare individuals, which is why the blocked-hand setting should be clear before play.
Check that it really is blocked
Before counting, no remaining tile can match either end. Two players passing is not enough if another can still play. Mesa’s result shows remaining pips to help check the calculation without treating prior passes as a scoring rule.
